The
daughter of a woodsmith
and opal cutter, she was raised by her father
(James Ferrigno) from the time she was three,
he always encouraged her to draw more, saying
that her pencil work was his favorite among
all of them. Instead of coloring books for
Christmas, her father bought the first set of
acrylics she owned. Her mother (Judith
Ferrigno) who passed away from cancer in
1988, had a wonderful talent for pottery. You
could say that creativity is in her blood,
however this
self-taught artist found trial and error,
along with lots of patience
to be her most treasured teachers.
A
life time subscriber to environmental magazines like
Cousteau, Dolphin Log, and National Geographic.
Jacqueline originally started by drawing whales and dolphins
in the mid 90's thanks to her fathers encouragement. A few
years after that, she picked up the habit of drawing horses.
There was even a short period in middle school where she
admits to being obsessed with the under water dinosaurs,
thanks to her Marine Biology teacher. But fortunately it
was the horses the
stuck.
Jacqueline
never had any classical training. But she did
have access to some of the most creative minds that Palm
Beach County ever saw. For a year she worked at a local
art store, picking up on tricks and tips from other artists. Many
of these
suggestions are what have gotten her so far in
the last two years.
Some of
the future plans for JF Studios is the revival of their
Parade of Breeds project, as well as getting Educational
Coloring and Illustrated horse books published.
